***** The Tradition Lives On! Tell Your Friends!*****
A “hash” is an incredibly fun sporting event based on the old English game of “hare and hounds.” The “hare of the month” will be setting a course marked with flour leading to a social gathering place. Check out the HASH Marks below to find your way through the maze. The “hounds” will be following this trail (…or lack there of) to the final destination. Hashes vary in distance but are usually around 2-5 miles long. This is not a race!
Usually on the 3rd or 4th Friday of each month, at 6:34PM at the Hanner Fieldhouse parking lot. Keep checking our HASH Calendar for each month's date.
Crazy fun people looking to have a good time while socializing with other crazy fun people! This is an unofficial event and all your friends are welcome! The more the merrier!
If you really need an answer to this I feel sorry for you. Be sure to come out.
Tough clothes & r*nning shoes (Dress like a clown if you want!), your identification, water bottle, small bag of dry clothes, towel, and an umbrella! (Note: Any time you bring an umbrella with you it won’t rain) Any first timers need to be sure to wear their newest and whitest r*nning shoes and bring three 1984 pennies. It’s also recommended that you get a tetanus shot.
Like all Statesboro Pacer events, volunteers are what make any of this fun stuff happen! And Nathan, our Hash Master, would love for any of you to pick a month you'd like to toy with your fellow Pacers' minds by charting an "over the hills & through the woods, and where do we end up to share a cold one?" kind of course. He'll give you pointers. Nathan works at GSU's Southern Adventures, and you can reach him at <nkile1@georgiasouthern.edu> or (912) 486-7227. Meanwhile, come on out for the next HASH r*n, and join in on our next hilarious adventures!
Just show up!
****Note: This is a gathering of friends, and is not an official event.****

3/31/05 HASH FLASH...
Kudos to Pacer, Kurt Frederick, who plotted the EXTREMELY entertaining HASH r*n Part III, (aka, St. Patrick's Day Easter Egg Hunt!!!), where runners & walkers came out in their St. Paddy day green, and wandered aimlessly in search of the course AND most importantly the hidden Easter eggs that helped chart the course. The goal was not to come in first, but to gather the most Easter eggs. And it's amazing the lengths grown adults will go through to help achieve these ever important goals. You'd have thought we were panning for gold!! And who acquired the most Easter eggs? ME (Deb G.), the biggest kid in the group! However, truth be told (oh no!) this only resulted due to my fellow running buddies bailing on carrying all their own acquired booty and passing it along to the "sweet-aholic" willing to carry it to the finish line!!

3/25/05 HASH FLASH...YES,
HASH
R*n is still on..
Part III (aka, St. Patrick's
Day Easter Egg Hunt!!!)
For those wondering about tonight's HASH R*n, this just in from our Hash
Master...
Hash people!
As you know, we are currently experiencing a little "liquid sunshine." The
event is still a go! I repeat, still a go! However, this does put a bit of
a damper (pun intended) on the $5.00 plan, as our venue has been changed.
Please keep your $5.00 until next month. This month it will be the same as
always with each person being responsible for their post event
refreshments at the on-in location. I hope the weather will pass by
tonight, but if not I will still see the true hashers at 6:34! Show us how
much fun you can be! See you all tonight! Don't be square!
See below for original details.

Dear Friends,
To continue this hopefully new monthly tradition, Nathan encourages anyone interested in laying out the next surprise trail to contact him. You can reach our "ultra sexy hash master" at Georgia Southern's CRI, 912-681-5436 or nathan_r_kile@GeorgiaSouthern.edu.
Keep checking back to this site, and we'll post upcoming HASH dates below, as they become available...read, when we get folks to volunteer to organize them :). If you missed the first one, you WON'T want to miss the next one!!

January 21, 2005 marked Statesboro's first ever HASH Run (that we're aware of), organized by the newly dubbed HASH master, Nathan, of Georgia Southern's Southern Adventures. His invite simply read:
Come One, Come All! The time has arrived for Statesboro's 1st Annual
Hash Run. Bring your friends, bring your friend's friends, bring yo
momma and yo daddy! But most importantly bring your flashlight! Fun
times are sure to be had by all as we kick off this unofficial local
tradition. The course is planned and is sure to challenge even the most
experienced of adventurers while maintaining that beginner friendly
distance and atmosphere. See you all tonight! 6:34pm @ the Hanner
Fieldhouse parking lot. Remember that it's not a r*n it's a hash!
For complete details download Hash
Run Info.doc (74K).
Your friendly hash master,
Big N
Around 25 adventurous folks showed up at "6:34 p.m." for what turned out to be a REALLY great time for everyone!! Using a few bags of flour, Nathan marked a trail that led everyone throughout the 'boro, over the hills (yes, there are hills here!) and through the woods, and then "back through the woods again, and again, and sometimes again and again!!" when we took the wrong trail...that's the beauty of it all. It's like solving a puzzle but with no real clues. The motivation? ONE, is to get OUT of the woods in the dark, because you are the one who brought that flashlight with batteries obviously dated to expire LAST year, and it's really dark "in them thare woods," and TWO, because you HOPE to magically end up where EVERYONE is suppose to end up...some place for food, drink, and lots of laughs about how many (most everyone) took "THAT ONE" wrong trail! It was a hoot-n-half!!
